Pixelmetrix shows Headend & Quality of Experience Monitoring Solutions at SCTE Cable-Tec Expo 2011

Atlanta, Georgia, November 15, 2011 – Pixelmetrix, the global expert in Preventive Monitoring for digital television and IPTV networks, is featuring its headend and quality of experience monitoring tools – the Electronic Couch Potato™ (ECP), DVStation-IP³ and IPGen – at the SCTE Cable-Tec Expo, booth 416.

The ECP connects after the Set Top Box (STB) and provides feedback on various service quality parameters to a central site. It stands out with its ability to emulate an end-user changing channels on a STB via a built-in infrared (IR) transmitter. Service plan verification, channel switching and multiple measurements on service quality for each channel reported to a central management console, give service providers valuable insight into the viewer experience and confirms the availability of subscribed-to channels.

New for the ECP is the Video Quality Index™ (VQI). This video quality measurement tool scans all channels, identifies common video impairments such as macro-blocking, tiling and freeze frame, then combines them to a single, integrated metric. Results are consolidated across all channels and remote sites – making it easy to identify when and where video quality issues strike.

For IP Headend Monitoring, the DVStation-IP³ and IPGen make a perfect combo.  The DVStation-IP³ is a complete solution for video over IP quality assurance. It monitors all multicast and unicast streams on a fully loaded Gigabit link. Supporting SPTS and MPTS, it provides unmatched coverage for IP, Transport Stream, SI and content. It also decodes video thumbnails for all services - encoding metadata, running blackout and freeze-frame tests.  The IPGen, on the other hand, is a headend in a box solution for stress testing of video transmission networks.  It can generate up to a Gigabit of video traffic and allows for customizable test profiles with a variety of impairments.
